Barrie: 10D (I might be able to pull 9.5 with thin socks), 9.5 E, Tuesday split toe boots (no last name): 9.5, Borneo: 42 EU (snug fit with plenty room for toe to wiggle with medium socks), Kujang: 42.5 EU (snug fit with medium socks), 325: 9.5 UK (had to re-purchase just to recall my size), 365: 9 UK (snug with medium socks, would probably be clown looking if I went 9.5, but who knows), Military: 44 EU (had to throw thick socks for this, but no way I could pull 43, the weirdest fitting last Ive ever had), 4497: 9.5 UK fitting 6 (could probably pull 9 UK or same size but 5 fitting instead), 2020: 9.5 (with medium socks it fit snug). Alden TruBalance 9D: Its just so good. For me, thats the right balance: There are diminishing returns to the higher quality make you can get with more expensive manufacturers, and a lot of my enjoyment comes from having shoes that are fit for particular purposes e.g., sleeker oxfords to wear with suits and smarter trousers, chunkier brogue and split-toes for more casual outfits, rubber soles for wet weather, unlined loafers for the summer, etc. The choice of quality leather materials makes Meermin shoes very versatile and fitting for many wardrobes. Similar wide heel to the 1035. Noel it is precisely the point you make that has been behind my long standing decision to stay with C&J over all these years. Too tight in the vamp and mid-foot. But there is also some variation in what you get. I dont think either has changed in their quality, no. My next purchase would probably be one from G&Gs classic collection, but I can hardly justify buying another shoe when I have 2 brand new pairs (another Meermin and Trickers) which remain unworn due to quarantine. I appreciate that it takes time and skill and thus affects cost, it just doesnt matter a ton to me as it doesnt have a meaningful effect on how the shirt wears or looks. Perhaps if I lived in Spain I would got to a Carmina store to gauge their quality and service. Spain level 2: Berwick, Sendra and Meermin. Is it really that costly to offer and stock a range of widths/sizes in order to ensure customers can find a comfortable shoe? The shoe also felt very light, like it was cheaply constructed. Red Wing Postman: 10D, wore for a year but sold due to low volume toebox. But they are still good value for money. Im looking forward to stopping by! I would also include Lof & Tung on this list its Skoaktiebolagets house brand (though I havent seen any in person), and their customer service is excellent too. The nicest pair of shoes I own is a pair of JM Weston oxfords (from their main line, not the Blake line), and I have to work to tell the difference between the two (Weston has shaped heels, for example).
